Tales from an elementary school

So I work at an elementary school.  Kids from elementary schools have the greatest things to say.  So entertaining.  I got mistaken for THE most popular and adorable 6th grade girl the other day.  Needless to say I felt like a million bucks.  There's a little girl last year who wouldn't come off the playground when her bell rang for recess to end.  When we told her she was making a bad decision she responded, "I have ADHD so it's I can't help it."  Geez.  Who's been giving her this cop out?  She's was in FIRST grade!  And this is a much sadder story.  One of my favorite little boys, we'll call him JT, has been acting up a lot lately.  He's got a lot going on, ADHD, among other things and he comes from a single parent home.  He had made the decision to pinch one of the aides at the school and I was talking to him about the poor choice it was and he responded, "Well I didn't take my pill today that tells me to do good things so I didn't know to do a good thing."  Sad but also adorable.  I love that kid.  And I work with a little guy in Special Ed.  He's in kindergarten and he's the best and brightest part of my day.  As I was watching him do an entire 5 foot floor puzzle all by himself, I thought how much I care about him and how much I just want him to have the best life.  He repeats everything I say. Poor guy, he should really have a much more qualified teacher but at least I know I love him SO much and I think that helps.  He made up a clean up song for when we clean up puzzles.  It's great.  It's always stuck in my head.  Also, I teach two after school clubs.  I teach glamor girls and football club.  Opposites, I know.  So fun though.  We've painted nails and made necklaces in glamor girls and played football and soccer in football club.  Next week, we're going to make tissue paper dresses and have and fashion show!  Anyway, that's my day.  Jealous anyone?  I have many more stories, I'll add them as they come up.  In the mean time, know that I'm the luckiest person in the world and I work with the best kids on earth.
